Is it dangerous?
- Well, mountain biking is a dangerous as you want it to be….we insist on helmets on guided rides and recommend insurance from someone like Sportscover direct. If you have money (or insurance) the health service here is excellent, but here’s hoping we keep our safety record!

Will I be too fast or slow?
- We’ll spend some time discussing fitness levels, riding tastes and even your mood and usually there will be two separate groups each riding day, sometimes more, so you get what you are looking for without waiting around or really scaring yourself.
How much spending money do I need?
- Most living costs are pretty cheap here, beer is about 40p a bottle, a nice wine about 2 pounds a meal about 3 pounds…..so you won’t need much!
Do you cater for vegetarians?
- We especially welcome vegetarians, who will have no problems in Bulgaria due to huge delicious salads, pulses and cheeses always available. Combine the salads with sprouted seeds and the vegetable juicer and those who want to eat super-healthily will be more than happy.
When are you open?
- From April to the end of October. There are 4 distinct seasons here and the climate is similair to the UK but pleasantly warmer with enough rainfall to keep things green but without endless grey days- blue skies are the norm here!
Can you help us get to the coast?
- You might like to extend your visit to Bulgaria and go and get baked on the coast for a while! We are about 5/6 hours away by train and can organize this for you and suggest some great places. Alternatively if you find yourself at the coast and need to escape for a while, we can help you with that too…
What type of bikes do you rent?
- We use local bikes, called RAM, which are designed for the local conditions, welded by Far Eastern craftsmen and then assembled here like just about everything else these days and are an excellent choice, with front suspension, disks and proper Shimano throughout. Most people like to bring their own bikes, but if you can’t be bothered, or fancy something different, you wouldn’t go wrong with one of ours. (click here to see bike description)
How easy is it to bring my own bike?
- Most people use either a fancy bag (worth it for those who do lots of trips) but many prefer a cardboard box from the bike shop. There is either a small, or no charge by the airlines, and in our experience they take good care of them.
What can we do on the day off?
- By Wednesday, most people are quite keen to have a day out of the saddle, and can go to the pool to laze around, loaf around the garden with maybe a little stroll, visit the splendid local caves, sample some of the other outdoor sports (such as horse-riding, climbing, abseiling) take an excursion to see the medieval town of Veliko Turnovo or the capital Sofia…..you’ll be spoilt for choice.
